P&G Responds To Flooding In The Philippines

A massive clean-up is under way in the Philippines after floods swept through the capital of Manila and nearby provinces after 12 days of monsoon rains, compounded by a typhoon and tropical storms. Millions were affected by the flooding, and hundreds of thousands of people are still displaced and without power.

P&G Philippines is responding with a “Rebuild Philippines” program to support flood victims and help them rebuild their homes and livelihoods.

P&G has donated products such as Safeguard, Tide, Ariel, Pampers, Whisper and Joy -- products that fill a critical need in evacuation areas housing more than 250,000 people who have been displaced by the flooding.

P&G is also working with our partners to provide P&G Purifier of Water packets in locations where they are needed the most. The P&G water purification packet quickly turns 10 liters of dirty, potentially deadly water into clean and drinkable water.

Employees Helping Neighbors

P&G has also organized efforts to enable employees in the Philippines to donate to a disaster fund as well as participate in an in-kind donation drive and a community volunteer program. Through the programs, employees are making monetary and in-kind donations such as rice, canned goods, bottled water, clothes and medicines to help those affected by the disaster.

“Having first-hand experience of going through a similar disaster, I feel honored and proud to see the full machinery of P&G helping our countrymen rebuild in this time of need,” said Jia Salindong, P&G Brand Manager in the Philippines.

P&G has three facilities in the Philippines, and of which have resumed operations in the aftermath of the flooding.
